Frugal Cookbook

We thought long and hard about which frugal cookbook we would recommend. We made a list of things it had to do.

Teach how to make things homemade (from scratch).

Be a resource for those who don't know as much about cooking, but also be a good resource for those who could cook but needed more.

Be easy to figure out, and not "the latest thing" on the market.

Well the truth is the choice came down to gravy. Yes gravy! We were talking about how to make gravy. How much money we had saved not having to buy those gravy packets. Then we talked about how we learned to make gravy and Fannie Farmer's name came up. She taught us things we didn't even know. We also talked about how when we wanted to learn how to do something we would go to her cookbook and it always had what we needed!

Several years ago we found her cookbook online free. We then ended up buying it when we went to the bookstore.

Note: the free one online is not updated since 1918. Nothing wrong with that at all, just be aware. Fannie Farmer Cookbook

If you would rather have the hard cover like us then its at amazon. The good thing about Amazon is they sell used cookbooks also. So if you want to save money that is a good way to go also.

Note: this one is updated by Marion Cunningham
