Lower Monthly Bills Save Money - Summer

These are some of the ways to lower monthly bills save money, and still keep cool this summer. They will help take a chunk out of what you pay on your electricity bill.

For at least 8 to 10 hours each day turn down up your temperature in summer, and turn down your temperature in winter. Two great times to do that are while at work or while you are asleep.

Changing your furnace/AC filter.

Pull your curtains/ blinds while the sun is shining in summer.

Use compact fluorescent light bulbs. Use the lowest watt you can get away with.

Use ceiling fans

Keep everything unplugged that does not need to be on.

Caulk and weather stripping help.

Landscaping with deciduous trees that shed their leaves in winter.

Use the the oven sparingly, use your outdoor BBQ, crock pot, a homemade solar oven or microwave to make food. All of these use less or no electricity than an oven. Plus they do not heat up the house.

Use your washer and dryer sparingly also. Besides costing you more in electricity they heat up the house also! Sparingly meaning: wash clothes at night time, hang out your clothes if you can, or dry them at night also, only wash full loads when possible.
