Save Money on Groceries

Save money on groceries is a subjective topic. What works for one does not always work for others. We think of it as a process of stages that work like this:

Stage 1 - You eat regularly so you start to cut back on how much you eat out. You fix more of your food at home and they might be fast or frozen foods. Still fairly costly but not as costly as eating out.

Stage 2 - You start to use less frozen foods and make up your own ways of doing things that are faster and easier. In this way you save money on groceries.

Stage 3 - You then start making more and more of your food from scratch. Which in turn lets you keep more of your money in your wallet.

Whats interesting when we talk about this process is people think they need to move through all the stages. Its not an exact science. You may go back and forth between two. The most important thing is to find the place you are comfortable at financial wise and for your family. You don't have to be at stage three to be frugal. Other than the eating out part you can be frugal through most of the other stages. Even though eating out can be done frugally it will never be as frugal as eating at home.
