Several Frugal Living Ideas

by Donna
(Kettering Ohio)

Hi Im Donna from Ohio

I am frugal in many ways such as using the internet as my resource,I have learned to keep my temp in the house at 62,,because we installed a wood burner stove and have a huge patio of free firewood waiting for cold months!

I make my own laundry soaps,,which do great and also only was large loads and in only cold water.Avg.cost in 1-cent a load!

I have placed a 1-liter bottle in my toilet tank to help cut back on the amount of water used and fill in the tank!

We order out less than 2 times a week, usually only once, and prepare alot of meals here at home,,no takeout.

I pack my lunch for work as much as possible,,usually by using leftovers.

We frequent thrift shops quite often, this is giving things a second use, saving from the landfills and is at a huge price reduction!

Each city needs to look into Freecycle,,,huge way to find items and to get rid of things around the house,,saving from the landfill also.

Thank You Donna for your great frugal ideas! We mention Freecycle here on another page. It is a great resource! We are glad you are making use of it.

We would love to hear your recipe for laundry soap, if you have the time. That sounds very interesting, and cost effective.

Thank You for the wonderful ideas!
