The Millionaire Next Door

What we learned reading the Millionaire Next Door, and a real example named Paul Navone who did it!

The Millionaire Next Door Its a great book full of real people like us who did it. Frugal and Thrifty do give you advantages.

One great example is Paul Navone:

Paul Navone 78 year old mulit-millionaire - Never made more than $11.00 an hour. He shows that you can be thrifty, work hard and still become well off. They are saying he did it all with "no bling." Simply put he cut out all things he did not need. He knew what he needed to live, and knew what wants really are.

Some of the steps these people took:

They don't spend more than they make.

They save money at every opportunity.

They save and invest.. then don't touch the money.

They are interested in providing for themselves not showing off with designer clothes, and new cars, etc..

They did it themselves with no help from others.

They are self educated. Paul says it has been proven that people who are "salaried" make less money. (We agree with that statement!) From personal experience "salaried people" get more work, more responsibility and end up make less per hour than those who make a per hour wage. He also learned how to pick good investments over time.

So where does that leave the rest of us? Do we have to have no phone, no tv and do with out all wants to become independent? The answer is no! What it means to us is we know its possible and we need to figure out and carve out our own path to independence!
